Description
Royal Five – ‘Ain’t No Big Thing (But It’s Growing)’ / ‘Peace of Mind (It’s Just A Matter of Time’ – Arctic 160 (US)
Beautiful offering from a group that really should have hit the big time. The final release on the classic Arctic label, home to more great records than you could shake a stick at. Authors of the topside are Garnet Mimms and Jerry Akines, the latter a member of the Formations (who as The Corner Boys cut ‘Gang War’ for Neptune and later became Silent Majority on Hot Wax) and the co-writer of many Philly classics, including Wilson Pickett’s ‘Don’t Let The Green Grass Fool You.’ ‘Peace of Mind,’ penned by blue-eyed soul brothers Dave Bupp and Buddy King of the Magnificent Men (who recorded the 1965 original for Capitol and later saw it sung by The Players and Jerry Butler as well), is, if anything, even better; easily the finest version of this beautiful song. Most copies you see of this record are trashed – a reflection of its quality, no doubt – but this one is near mint; don’t miss it!
Condition: Excellent (please listen to the clips). Clean labels (please see scans).
