Ruby Braff – Ball at Bethlehem with … – Bethlehem BCP-1034:  December 31, 1954 - January 1, 1955 monaural recording.

Condition: LP is VG+ to VG++.  Light scratch across Auld Lang Syne has been spot auditioned and does not appear audible.  Some loud passages sound over modulated producing a very light distortion.  Laminated jacket is in fine condition.  Liner has light soiling and rubber stamp D.J. / SAMPLE COPY (4.5 cm x 1.5 cm).

Note about the image: In order to show the full image of an item wider than 8.5 inches (21.5 cm), I must make multiple scans and then combine the images.  Sometimes the resulting image has a vertical or horizontal line making it appear as though the left and right sides (or top and bottom portions) of the image are different shades.  Neither the line nor color shade differences are on the original.

Note about grading: See grading descriptions at end of this listing.  I do NOT use letter grading conditions for LP jackets.  All imperfections in jackets are described in detail.

Shipping: Buyer pays shipping and handling, cost of which will vary depending on destination and method of shipping selected by buyer.  Within the USA & territories, 1 LP shipped via media mail, with minimum insurance, is $6.50.  Insurance is mandatory.  If requested, I will quote rates for priority mail, FedEx or UPS ground.

Important note regarding shipping within USA: Ebay requires sellers to indicate method and other particulars regarding shipping, and automatically inserts a shipping cost at the top of this listing.  The amount of $6.50 quoted in the preceding paragraph is the actual minimum shipping & handling cost.  It supercedes any other amount that may be mentioned at the top of this listing.

If value of parcel exceeds $50 or if parcel contains more than one LP, please wait until I inform you of cost prior to submitting payment.

Winners outside the USA will be quoted shipping cost at end of auction.  The least expensive method in most cases is via First-Class International Mail.  However, parcels with a value in excess of $40 will be shipped via Priority International Mail or any other method of winner’s choosing for which a tracking number is assigned.

I will accommodate winners who wish to have multiple LPs shipped in a single parcel.

Packing: I use V3C corrugated cardboard squares that I have custom cut to a size slightly larger than a standard LP jacket.  This prevents damage to LP jackets edges during shipping.  V3C, sometimes referred to as “weather resistant” cardboard, is a single wall board that is stronger than standard single wall corrugated board.

Payment: I accept payment Paypal.  I also accept cash in cases of in-person deliveries only.

Returns: Returns will be accepted in cases of error in description.

Note on condition:  I grade records visually.  Occasionally, I spot audition records, in which case I will specifically indicate so in the description.  Following are the definitions of the grading that I use.

LP grading

N          A record known to be new.  This includes factory sealed records.

N –       A record that is known or assumed to have been played.  May have some scuff marks from removing and reinserting record in sleeve.  Otherwise, appears same as N in all respects.

VG++   More handling marks visible than on N –, but should audibly play like a new record.

VG+      No more than a few minor scratches or marks which are audible.  Such scratches or other defects will usually be described in specific detail.  Record will usually not have any groove wear.

VG        More than a few minor audible defects, but no steady noise.  No appreciable groove wear.

78 RPM grading

For 78 rpm, grading refers solely to groove wear.  Scratches and other defects are specifically described under condition.

N        New; never played.

E+      Shiny, like new.  May have some scuffs from removing and reinserting record in sleeve.

E        No longer shiny, but exhibiting no groove wear.

E–      One or two graying grooves.

V++    More than a couple graying grooves, but not quite as much graying as V+.

V+      Graying in the louder passages.

V        Overall graying, but still quite listenable.
