Right as the chunky and pulsing "Make Me Make You" gets going, the thick guitars and endearing electric piano bode for good things to come. For the most part, that template continues for the rest of the record, with "Mr. Joe" and "Poor Billy Brown" especailly being fine. "Squadron leader John" and "Rumpelstiltskin" are also full of fat guitar tones and throaty, though hardly macho vocals. It's not high energy stuff, but instead it's slowly unfolding heavy songs make good use of dynamics and feel.
