Del Shannon "Runaway with Del Shannon" Bigtop 12-1303 STEREO, rockabilly, released in early 1961, there are less than 80 known to exist in stereo. Del Shannon is yet another artist from Michigan (Grand Rapids) where I recently visited! The cover is a strong VG+ if not a solid VG++ (see photos), the record looks VG (no major issues) and plays VG+ or better, a nice listen with a few pops, trail off has the Bell Sound stamper, black label with deep groove. Popsike shows several originals that have sold over the years. Collectorsfrenzy also shows a sales history over the years. Some notes I found: On January 24, 1961, they recorded "Runaway" at the Bell Sound recording studios, with Harry Balk as producer, Fred Weinberg as audio engineer and also session musician on several sections - session musician Al Caiola on guitar, and Crook playing the central Musitron break. Other musicians on the record included Al Casamenti and Bucky Pizzarelli on guitar, Milt Hinton on bass, and Joe Marshall on drums. Bill Ramall, who was the arranger for the session, also played baritone sax. This is the *Super-Rare* STEREO EDITION of Del Shannon's hit record "Runaway"considered to be one of the most rare early stereo rock-a-billy albums. Only approximately 80 copies are believed to exist. It is rumored that even Del Shannon didn't know stereo copies existed until the 1980s. A "must have" for any serious vinyl collector.
