Rupert Hine – Unfinished Picture UK 1973 Purple Rock (Factory Sample)
Rupert Neville Hine was an English musician, songwriter and record producer. He produced albums for artists including Rush, Kevin Ayers, Tina Turner, Howard Jones, Saga, the Fixx, Bob Geldof, Thompson Twins, Stevie Nicks, Chris de Burgh, Suzanne Vega, Underworld, Duncan Sheik, Formula and Eleanor McEvoy. Additionally, Hine recorded eleven albums, including those billed under his own name, the pseudo-band name Thinkman, and as a member of the band Quantum Jump; with the latter, he achieved a number 5 hit on the UK Singles Chart in 1979, "The Lone Ranger". Additionally, he composed for film and television soundtracks, including the 1989 Ian Fleming biopic Goldeneye and the black comedy Better Off Dead. 'Unfinished Picture' is his second solo album which was originally released in 1973.
The Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. custom printed unlaminated gatefold card sleeve would certainly conservatively grade as EX-. It shows signs of handling and storage wear (minimal corner rubbing and bumping) with minimal ring and a little edge wear. The spine is readable and the entry edge shows signs of use.
The original polylined paper inner is undamaged apart from a little age related discolouration. Graded as EX
The vinyl is without doubt EX+ and has not been played much - if at all. The Purple labels are unmarked apart from a hint of a spindle mark and a white sticker on Side 1 which reads 'Factory Sample NOT FOR SALE (See pictures). On play grading there was a little light noise on the run in on both sides but nothing substantial, maybe a rare pop or click, during the remainder of the album. Certainly nothing to spoil the enjoyment of the record - even at high volume. It plays superbly with very strong audio. The surface is very clean, glossy and shiny with no noticeable marks apart from the odd fingerprint, a superb copy that conservatively grades as EX+.
