Description
For sale is a very rare doo wop 7" vinyl release of Always Forever / Cool, Cool Christmas by The Sabers (Cal - West, 45847).
The Sabers was American R&B soul singer Billy Storm's early group, which he formed while attending Los Angeles' Jordan High School alongside Sheridan Spencer (AKA Rip Spencer), as well as his cousin Brice Coefield and Chester Pipkin. Most of the members were in countless other R&B bands in Los Angeles - including Africa, Happy Tones, Valiants, The Alley Cats, and The Untouchables.
The Sabers released one single before renaming themselves Chavelles.
While this 7" vinyl has considerable wear with noticeable surface noise, in the right hands it may be cleaned up and possibly have improved play. With that said, please see pictures for some details as to the physical condition.
The labels are relatively clean (light scratches and a bit of rubbing) making this suitable for framing. This is a rare 45 which would make a great addition to the collection of any fan of soul, doo wop and R&B.
Disc is Good - showing many small scratches (a few deep ones) and scuffs which produce noticeable hiss throughout as well as some crackle. During play on one turntable a skip was observed at the beginning of Always Forever while on another player the skip did not occur. There's some minor rotational ticks on Cool Christmas but no skips.
Jacket is generic white sleeve.
