SABL 185, Brahms Walter Fournier Francescatti, HI FI ST
Brahms: Double Concerto in A minor - Variations on a Theme of Haydn.
Bruno Walter and the Columbia Symphony Orchestra, with Pierre Fournier (Cello) and Zino Francescatti (Violin). UK pressed Philips "Hi Fi" stereo LP, SABL 185, earliest issue matt textured purple label with silver print and "Hi Fi Stereo" marked to both labels and sleeve.Vinyl in super condition. Hard to detect any spider trace marks around the spindle areas, and vinyl surfaces are free of marks. Both vinyl and labels still have a nice as new gloss to them. Labels are clean and undefaced.
Sleeve also in very clean condition. No seam splits or fraying, intact backflaps, and intact laminate. Still with a very bright and fresh look, only fractionally marred by some very light and non-obtrusive age browning spots to laminated front and edges of rear along the laminated backflaps. (Remainder of rear sleeve is unlaminated and unaffected).
This LP is one of a number I acquired which appears to originate from either an impeccable private collection or a reviewer's collection. It is a long time since I've had the privilege of seeing a complete collection as breathtakingly well-preserved as this one is.
All of the items appear either unplayed or played carefully and probably no more than once or twice at a push. They have been stored well, and sleeves have also survived in excellent condition. Sleeve edges are crisp and sharp and without feathering. LPs require that little extra effort to remove from sleeves due to not having been removed excessively.
