SAINT STEVEN - OVER THE HILLS / THE BASTICH
Long deleted, rare and sought after psych gem with the little played vinyl and superb audio quality being true highlights
Year/Label : 1969 PROBE UK Label number : SPB 1005 STEREO Matrix numbers : SPB 1005 A - 1G, SPB 1005 B - 1G Stampers : 1 G / 1 GExcellent plus (EX+) condition vinyl (many would grade as "near mint" I am sure) - flat and retaining it's original jet black lacquered sheen and in normal daylight comes across as completely unmarked - a real gleamer. It is only with very close inspection under a bright light that just a couple of small and extremely faint paper scuff lines can be identified - purely superficial of course. The labels are again excellent plus (EX) - near perfect in fact, with the only marks being two small and very faint spindle trails next to the centre hole on each label. Clearly, this is a record that has only been played a few times. A solid very good (VG) condition front-side-only laminated Garrod & Lofthouse flipback outer sleeve with firm edges devoid of any scuffing except for 2 tiny nicks in the middle of the top edge and a few tiny nicks on the spine, though the spine text itself remains nicely intact.The corners remain well defined right angles with just a little rubbing on each and the reverse side flipbacks remain in great shape. There are no areas of laminate lifting though there are a number of non-obvious laminate "crinkles" adjacent and perpendicular to the top and bottom edges and spine. All colours, text and beautiful art work remain in excellent shape with great definition still, and the only other blemishes are a couple of small and very light surface handling/storage marks on the reverse side, and five non-obvious pin holes - one in each corner and the other at the top centre. I have included specific photos of the 3 top edge drawing pin holes - the bottom corner ones can just been seen on the whole sleeve photos and are even more non-obvious. In summary, some minor blemishes but remaining fully functional and eminently presentable. Excellent plus (EX+) stereo sound quality with no sticks, skips, repeats, clicks or distortion and any background crackle is at an absolute minimum - just the hint of some very, very background crackle during a couple of the intermissions. Great tone and clarity with every track a great listen - such an underrated and "under the radar" LP with side 2 in particular containing a number of outstanding tracks. Comes with original and very good condition poly-lined inner sleeve with correct "U.K. Patent No. .." text, no splits or edge fraying and just some creasing towards the corners and some minor age discolouration. Note that I always ship the vinyl in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original. Long lost and very hard to find psych gem and difficult to believe that this copy is 56 years of age.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
