The 2006s album by Swiss dark metal band SAMAEL is completely out of the ordinary in the overall picture of the band and should actually appear as a side-project under the name ERA ONE. Because when SAMAEL took a longer break at the beginning of the new millennium, this had nothing to do with a compositional drought. Rather, frontman Vorph and programmer Xy tried to break new ground with the side project ERA ONE, but were thrown off track several times. Around four years after the ERA ONE material was finished, the 10 tracks from the sessions at that time were finally released. These have now been enriched by a second complete album with the title "Lesson In Magic # 1". The basic structure of the 10 songs in the ERA ONE project is not at all that different from the main band's last two works. ''Lesson In Magic # 1'', on the other hand, consists of 9 Instrumental pieces with electro/ambient music, composed and played by Xy. Now the listeners and fans of the Swiss dark metal institution can finally take part in the electro project, which has almost been forgotten due to the brilliant return of SAMAEL, and learn what sophisticated Sound images the two creative heads have come up with this time. It's nice to hear, that there are still bands who don't always play it safe. Rather they do some experiment and dare to tackle something new! The limited 180g black vinyl edition comes as Double LP in a gatefold cover.
