Description
Here's a rare artifact: an LP acetate from DCT Recorders in Hollywood containing unreleased and undocumented music by the legendary soul and R&B singer Sammy Turner. Seven of the nine tracks have never been released, including a radically different, later version of his 1959 hit "Lavender Blue," a gorgeous version of the Marvin Gaye-penned "Baby, I'm for Real," covers of the Beatles ("Yesterday") and Bob Dylan ("Blowing in the Wind"), as well as several originals. Of the two that have seen the light, one was never issued on vinyl—"Give My Heart a Break," which appears only on a 1997 Belgian CD—and the other, "Nothing Can Separate Me," was issued as a B-side.
