SAMOAN SONGS OF LOVE & DANCING Siaki Laban RARE PVT UK LP 1950s Polynesian music Shipping Info Description Scarce private world music lp: SAMOAN SONGS OF LOVE AND DANCING - SIAKI LABAN & HIS SAMOAN ISLANDERS - Recorded in Apia, Western Samoa, by Samoa Records, LP 001, ALO 8209, 33 rpm. Made in England. 14 tracks; 2 of the songs on side 2 are performed by Iesivi and His Samoan Serenaders. A very scarce record. No printed date, but circa the 1950's or maybe early 1960's. Liner notes on the back cover state in part that "There are few peoples among whom music plays as large a part as it does among the Polynesians, and, isolated in the South Pacific, Samoa is said to be the most untouched of all the Polynesian Islands". CONDITION: VG+/VG+ (the sleeve is very lightweight and has a 3-inch split to bottom edge and a 1-inch split to top edge, old price sticker and small ink mark to cover, and light ringwear; vinyl has some minor scuffing).
