Description: Incredibly rare UK prog album featuring members of the band Web. Released on the obscure Decca subsidiary ‘Greenwich Gramophone Company’. Original copies of this LP very, very rarely become available. This copy looks almost unplayed – some very light inaudible marks, but otherwise in fantastic condition. Reserve price set to reflect this. High quality playing from the band, as they bring in influences from jazz, psych, rock etc.
The players on this set are:
Dave Lawson – Vocals & keyboards
Tony Edwards – Electric and Acoustic Guitar
John Eaton – Bass
Kenny Beveridge – Drums
Lennie Wright – Bibes, Drums and Percussion
Tony Roberts – Tenor Sax, Concert & Alto Flutes, Bass Clarinet
Don Fay – Tenor, Alto and Baritone Sax, Concert Flute
Dave Lawson wrote and arranged all titles and Lennie Wright also produced the album.
Track Listing:
Side A) Saving It Up For So Long / More Rain / Maudie James / Holy Padlock Side B) Give A Little Love / Face In The Mirror / As I Dried The Tears Away ----
From ‘thedisckiosk’:
Samurai was an offshoot of the band, Web, led by Dave Lawson (Greenslade). Samurai blend the classical brass ensemble of Maxophone (a variety of saxes and flutes) with the musical depth of Genesis and Van Der Graaf. Samurai is a very original band which you would classify somewhere in the classical, jazz, psychedelic progressive region of music. Brilliantly original progressive rock masterpiece from England. Samurai blend heavy classical elements with a strong progressive rock 70's landscape.
---- Sorry that I can’t upload sound files, UK buyers may e-mail me to arrange a listen to anything on the phone.----
Thanks for having the patience, diligence and lack of girlfriend to read this! Please check out my other auctions as I’ll have spent ages doing all this typing and I’d like to feel like there was some point to it! ---- NB. I will NOT end any auctions early. Please do not contact me requesting this as you are wasting your time. It is unfair to those who are watching the auctions with the intention of bidding later and no matter how much you offer me or how much you beg/plead/weep, it won’t happen! ----
THE NITTY GRITTY:
Shipping: Wherever you live, that is where I will send your package. The buyer will pay the ACTUAL shipping charges, plus the cost of the mailer/PVC sleeve. I’ll keep this cost as low as I can. Obviously, for people who’ve spent a substantial amount on records, I will do my best to be ‘pretty flexible’ with postage charges! ----
Payment: I accept payment in the following forms (I prefer Paypal): Cheque/Postal Orders (UK buyers), Paypal (IMOs are a last resort and I wouldn’t recommend that you use this route). I must insist on payment within 7 days of the auction ending, sorry this has been reduced from my old requirements, but some buyers have just been too naughty! No exceptions will be made without prior agreement with myself!! ----
Non-paying bidders / Late payment etc: Please be aware that I use eBay’s Non-Paying Bidder policy and I take the Feedback Forum seriously. Your item will be relisted after the payment deadline elapses and you will receive negative feedback!! There will be no exceptions to this, so please ensure that you have read these conditions so that we don’t have people leaving incorrect feedback after having failed to pay on time.
