·       SANTANA – LOTUS – THREE-RECORD LIVE SET RECORDED AND RELEASED ONLY IN EUROPE AND JAPAN – NEVER RELEASED ON VINYL IN THE UNITED STATES – ORIGINAL EUROPEAN (DUTCH) PRESSING – CBS RECORDS (NETHERLANDS) STEREO/QUADRAPHONIC ALBUM CBS 66325

·       ORIGINAL DUTCH PRESSING (WE BELIEVE THAT THE DUTCH RELEASE WAS THE ONLY EUROPEAN PRESSING, BUT WE MAY BE WRONG)

*** STILL SEALED GUARANTEED ORIGINAL FIRST PRESSING (PLEASE NOTE: THE ALBUM WAS APPARENTLY SEALED BY THE AMERICAN DISTRIBUTOR AS AN IMPORT FROM EUROPE; THE DISTRIBUTOR'S STICKER APPEARS UNDER THE SHRINK WRAP***

PLEASE NOTE: THIS ITEM COMES FROM THE INCREDIBLE, SINGLE-OWNER COLLECTION WE ACQUIRED A WHILE AGO, IN WHICH ITEMS ORIGINALLY BOUGHT BY THE OWNER FROM THE MID-'60s to THE MID-'70s WERE KEPT STILL SEALED IN A NEAR-LABORATORY, TIME-CAPSULE CONDITIONS AND IN PRACTICALLY CLIMATE- AND HUMIDITY- CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT.  CONDITIONS OF SOME OF THESE ITEMS RANGE FROM IMPECCABLE TO TRULY UNBELIEVABLE. SOME OF THESE BEAUTIFUL MUSEUM PIECES LOOKED SO PERFECT THAT WE HAD TO REINSPECT AND RE-EXAMINE THEM A FEW TIMES TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE NOT RECENT REISSUES (REST ASSURED THEY ARE NOT -- THESE ARE ALL 40-50 YEAR OLD STILL SEALED ORIGINAL FIRST PRESSINGS AS YOU MAY NEVER FIND AGAIN!!)

·       THE THICKNESS OF THE VINYL, THE APPEARANCE AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE COVER, LABEL’S LOGO AND OTHER PERIPHERAL ELEMENTS OF THE COVER, ARE ALL PERFECTLY CONSISTENT WITH THE ORIGINAL, FIRST PRESSING OF THIS TITLE.

·       TWO “BREATHE” (AIR) HOLES NOTED ON THE SHRINK WRAP

·       GURANTEED TO INCLUDE ORIGINAL FOLDOUT POSTER/INSERT WHICH UNFOLDS SIX WAYS, LIKE A …WELL...LOTUS FLOWER!

·       GUARANTEED TO INCLUDE ORIGINAL CUSTOM MADE INNER SLEEVES, UNIQUE TO THIS TITLE

·       NOTE: WE HEAR FROM REPUTABLE SOURCES THAT ALL EUROPEAN PRESSINGS OF THIS ALBUM DECODE IN 4-CHANNEL (QUADRAPHONIC) SOUND AND CAN BE PLAYED ON QUADRAPHONIC EQUIPMENT, EVEN THOUGH THIS IS NOT NOTED ANYWHERE ON THE SLEEVE OR THE LABELS . SORRY, WE HAVE NO WAY OF VERIFYING THIS INFORMATION.

·       GUARANTEED ORIGINAL, CUSTOM, COLUMBIA/CBS LABEL UNIQUE TO THIS TITLE , SUCH AS THE ONE SHOWN BELOW, FROM OUR PREVIOUS AUCTION

·       THIS IS THE ORIGINAL, AUTHENTIC, FIRST EUROPEAN (DUTCH) PRESSING; THIS IS NOT A REISSUE, AN IMPORT, OR A COUNTERFEIT PRESSING.

·       ORIGINAL “TRYPTICH” (“TRIPPLE-GATEFOLD”) COVER

·       COVER HAS A NIFTY 'HYPE' (SONG TITLES) STICKER STILL AFFIXED TO THE SHRINK WRAP.

·       FAIRLY THICK VINYL PRESSING On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the thickness of the vinyl as 7.

·       Of course, QUAD version of this album has NEVER been available on a compact disc or  'surround sound' recording. This is the ONLY way you can obtain this great album in its rare multichannel version.

(►PLEASE SEE THE IMAGE OF THE COVER, LABEL OR BOTH, SHOWN BELOW)

(Note: this is a REAL image of the ACTUAL item you are bidding on. This is NOT a "recycled" image from our previous auction. What you see is what you’ll get.  GUARANTEED!)

Recorded in Japan in July 1973, this massive live album, originally on three LPs and now on two compact discs, was available outside the United States in 1974 but held back from domestic release until long into the CD age. It features the same "New Santana Band" that recorded Welcome, and combines that group's jazz and spiritual influences with performances of earlier Latin rock favorites like "Oye Como Va."

(EXCERPT FROM AN ONLINE REVIEW BY WILLIAM RUHLMANN, ALL MUSIC GUIDE  /ALLMUSIC.COM/)

This massive live set was NEVER released in the United States in its original vinyl form. The imported (Japanese and Dutch) pressings occasionally pop up, but because their covers are so delicate and frail, they are almost always worn, tattered , frayed , dislocated or torn. We present here the most beautiful copy we have  found in recent memory: Finding a still sealed original copy?!?! Forget it – not even a HOPE!!! This may be the last one you will ever see. Truly and literally, a piece of beauty: musically as well as condition-wise.

·                               CONDITION:

·                               RECORD

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          THE ALBUM IS STILL FACTORY SEALED AND IS BELIEVED TO BE PERFECTLY MINT. Please note: sealed items are assumed to be mint and are sold as-is, as we have no way of inspecting them. For our policy on still sealed records ►click here (PLEASE READ BEFORE PLACING A BID).

(b)          The album is guaranteed to come with the original insert / foldout poster still intact.

(c)           The records are guaranteed to come in their original, custom, inner sleeves, which are UNIQUE to this album.

(d)          The records are apparently pressed on a RELATIVELY  thick, inflexible vinyl. This is NOT a thin, flimsy ('dynaflex' type),  vinyl, but not the thickest, most rigid vinyl either.

(e)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
