Santana's Soul Sacrifice was the coolest performance of the Woodstock festival. It's also the best track of this record and a simply incredible instrumental song. The song is the sonic equivalent to the primal fury of the lionheadman on the album's mindblowing cover art. Carlos' brilliant guitareering, truly fantastic drums and congas.. then there's the organ, one of the best things in rock music ever. The hot, psychedelic latino rock of this album reaches its pinnacle on its closing track, but everything that prepares you for that is almost equally fantastic. Whether it's the similar instrumental goodness of songs such as Treat or the somewhat bluesy You Just Don't Care, where Carlos and Rolie provide totally competent vocals, you can't go wrong. Waiting opens the record with huge impact that lasts until the very last drum beat. This is a fantastic album.

Carlos Santana was originally in his own wing of the Latin Rock Hall of Fame, neither playing Afro-Cuban with rock guitar, as did Malo, nor flavoring mainstream rock with percussion, as did Chicago. His first record, as with the best fusion, created something a little different than just a mixture -- a new style that, surprisingly, remains all his own. Granted that Latin music has seeped into the mainstream since, but why aren't Van Halen and Metallica listening to this? Where they simmer, Santana boils over.

(b)          The record is believed to come in its original stock inner sleeve.

(c)           The record is  apparently pressed on a RELATIVELY  thick, inflexible vinyl. This is NOT a thin, flimsy ('dynaflex' type),  vinyl, but not the thickest, most rigid vinyl, either.

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

COVER IS NEAR MINT, STILL SEALED AND COVERED IN ITS ORIGINAL ►SHRINK WRAP  (A SMALL PIECE OF SHRINK WRAP IS MISSING)

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-         Cover has JUST A HINT of ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2  (VISIBLE ON BACK SIDE ONLY) .

-         Cover shows JUST A HINT of yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.  (BARELY VISIBLE)

-         Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the top seam and the spine (nothing significant)

-         Cover has two corners slightly dinged (nothing significant)
