SAVOY BROWN BLUES BAND - SHAKE DOWN - BLUES ROCK - NEW
I Ain't Superstitious Let Me Love You Baby Black Night High Rise Rock Me Baby I Smell Trouble Oh! Pretty Woman Little Girl The Doormouse Rides The Rails It's My Own Fault Shake 'Em On Down
The British Blues scene was a big deal in 1967. Cream, Ten Years After, John Mayall, and that Hendrix fellow all had a nice share of the scene. But Savoy Brown always seemed more on the outside looking in. Pity, because as the heady smoke had long cleared and the 60's had given way to the new century, Kim Simmonds, the most under rated of the guitar slingers of that scene, was still leading a rag tag bunch of journeymen under the Savoy Brown moniker. And by god they, especially Simmonds were delivering the goods. There's nothing fancy or even terribly psychedelic with the band. Just pretty much straight ahead blues n boogie. In fact, it's only on the ballads that the train doesn't keep a rollin'. This may be my favorite by the band, although there isn't an album of theirs that I flat out don't like. The fact that this is their first just might make it a little more special. Check it out.
