COLUMBIA SAX 2263 - RARE STEREO RECORDING. JANOS STARKER with the Philharmonia Orchestra, conducted by Walter Susskind. Dvorak - Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104 + Faure - Elegie, Op. 24 Here we have the first pressing of this rare record, on the blue/silver label. Unfortunately the condition of this record is not all it might be. LABELS ARE PERFECT. Side One has 3 visible scratches, and a couple of light hairlines/ very minor marks. The worst scratch starts at the run-in groove and extends nearly to the end of the side. The others are towards the end of the side. NONE OF THE SCRATCHES CAN BE FELT. The record plays through well enough - there are no skips or jumps - but there is some background noise in the quieter sections, and a few 'clicks' can be heard towards the end of the side. Side Two is visually EXCELLENT, and plays through well, with a little background noise. The sleeve is about VG, with some bottom edge rubbing, a 2.5cm tear at the opening edge bottom corner, a few minor edge rubs, and some slight lifting of the laminate. Slight ringwear to front. Rear is clean. PRICED AT £300 IN THE 2004 Classical Price Guide - THIS MUST BE A RARE ITEM AS THERE IS NOT ANOTHER ONE ON EBAY AT PRESENT, NOR IN 'COMPLETED ITEMS'.
