Description
Immaculate condition copy of this rare 1959 release on Columbia Records (SAX 2298 & SAX 2299 2 LP set) with its original turquoise and silver label design. Tullio Serafin conducts the Orchestra and Chorus of La Scala Opera House, Milan in a performance of Gaetano Donizetti's Opera "L'Elisir d'Amore" (The Elixir of Love) with Rosanna Carteri (soprano as Adina); Luigi Alva (tenor as Nemorino); Rolando Panerai (baritone as Belcore); Giuseppe Taddei (baritone as Dr Dulcamara) and Angela Vercelli (mezzo-soprano as Giannetta.
Condition is excellent. The sleeves are both clean and crisp with no tears or seam splits and hardly any shelf wear (just a little wear visible on the corners). The spines are both perfectly intact with no creases or splits. Both covers have become rather browned on the reverse (unlaminated areas) but otherwise the sleeves are in much the same condition as on the day when they left the factory.
The vinyl is in near mint condition with no scratches, scuffs or abrasions. Playback is unaffected by any ticks, clicks or crackles; surface noise is wonderfully low and there is no noticeable distortion and no jumps or skips.
This is quite a rare and sought after set and a real treat for music lovers AND audiophiles alike.
