COLUMBIA SAX 2470-242 Mozart’s Haydn Quartets 3 Disc Set
COLUMBIA STEREO First Issue turquoise/silver label UK orig.I have acquired a large classical collection of wonderful recordings from a very keen and dedicated collector.
They are all mostly from the late 50s to mid 60s - Something of a Golden Age in Classical recordingAll records are inspected very carefully and
Gradings are based on Record Collector magazine.
I try to only offer recordings in a minimum of excellent Condition unless it is something particularly rare when I will do my best to describe any visual or audible flaws

Volume 1 and 2 In DECCA COMPANY/FACTORY SLEEVE
Volume 3 with Sleeve first published in 1962
The Volume 3 Sleeve covers the first two volumes

Discs are visually very close to Excellent but there are some very faint surface hairline marks so being very strict this set is as follows
So again being very strict Discs are just under Excellent Condition ... Sleeves are Excellent/Nr Mint with original Decca inner sleeves
There are occasional very faint ‘tics' - More specifically
SAX 2470
Side One Band 3 has 1 very light pop for 5 revolutions
Side Two Band 4 has a very faint tic for about 1 min 45 secs in the quietest passages
SAX 2471
Side one Excellent/Nr mint throughout
Side two Band 2 has 2 light pops for 1 rev
SAX 2472
Side one Band 1 has 1 pop for 1 rev near the start band one and Band 4 has 1 pop for 5 revs
Side two Band one has 1 light pop for 1 rev and 1 slightly
louder pop for 1 rev .Band 4 has 2 light pops for 1 rev
Band 5 has 3 slightly louder pops for 3 Revs
In 1785 Haydn heard the last of the quartets for the first time and was
prompted to say to Mozart’s father
“ I tell you your son is the greatest composer known to me either in person or by name”
Brilliant performances and wonderful sound – One of the most
serene recordings I have heard -
Superb Jolly rare and highly regarded A complete treat and in lovely condition
