SB 2074 DECCA RECORDED RCA “LIVING STEREO” - JAMIE LAREDO VIOLIN RECITAL Excellent condition
This is one of a number of vinyl records from the 1950’s & 60’s listed this week which we no longer listen to. Little played, the records are still in very good condition, the covers sometimes less so.
Gradings are based on the “Record Collector Magazine's Guide” set out in the eBay Guides together with notes about condition added. Extracts from the Gramophone Magazine review written at the time of the record’s release are included, with the permission of the publishers, where these are available.
RECORD GRADING
EXCELLENT
There are almost no damaging marks, or even hairlines on this very clean, well looked after UK Decca recorded ‘Living Stereo’ record, and there are no spindle marks on either label. Both surfaces still retain their gleam and there is almost no surface noise apparent throughout the record.
On side 1 there are some very feint sleeve rubbings. I heard only 2 unwanted sounds on this side; a single pop approaching 13 minutes and 3 light pops at 14 min 30 secs. Excellent sound quality.
Side 2 plays exceptionally well too. I did not hear one unwanted sound throughout this side, and there was no surface noise; Excellent.
As the Gramophone Magazine reviewer wrote in 1960, “I have not heard a teenager play so beautifully” and it is so nice to be able to hear him again on this lovely record more than 50 years later. Laredo’s technique is amazing.
COVER GRADING
GOOD
The cover, dated February 1962, is undamaged but there are a number of signs of wear and tear; there are some small creases to the laminate on the front and some spot marks on it and the top edge is a little frayed. Its worst feature is the unlaminated back, which has become rather soiled and on which the record ring is clearly visible.
The RCA ‘Pink’ inner sleeve is very clean and without any damage, just a little light creasing.

Record In brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality Cover In perfect condition, as are extra items such as thelyric sheet, booklet or poster EXCELLENT Record Shows signs of having been played, but with very little lessening in sound quality Cover Slight wear and / or creasing to the cover or its contents VERY GOOD Record Obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch Cover Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects GOOD Record Played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, and there may be some distortion and mild scratches Cover Suffers from folding, scuffed edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
