Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

the Hippies "Summer Of Love"  ... 50th year anniversary listings ...

Original SCARCE Original 1970 first pressing of an important San Francisco Sound female bluesy rock artifact ... one of the first of the female hippies entertainers, even before Grace Slick or Janis Joplin hit the scene...

If you read too much 1960s rock history by the “experts,” you just might think that Grace Slick and Janis Joplin were the only two women who lived in the Haight-Ashbury district during San Francisco’s psychedelic golden age. Such narrow-mindedness diminishes the importance of fringe (but no less important) figures such as Lynne Hughes, who had been around before the scene even really came into existence. And what more could you want in a woman? She possessed a great deal of talent, had a lovely singing voice, could play decent guitar, and knew the songbooks of several important prewar blues singers…
After growing up in the Pacific Northwest and being part of Seattle’s folk scene in the early 1960s, Lynne Hughes relocated to the Bay Area and became friends with Chandler Laughlin and the characters who would eventually establish the legendary Red Dog Saloon in Virginia City, Nevada. This, in turn, led to her becoming an occasional member of the Charlatans with whom she often performed and handled lead vocal duties on two songs during their ill-fated recording sessions for Kama Sutra. She acknowledged that the time spent with them broadened her knowledge of blues artists like Robert Johnson, which considerably expanded her repertory.

WITH THE CHARLATANS, 1966 Formed toward the end of the 1960s, Tongue and Groove was an interesting blues-rock outfit that was in some respects an offshoot of the Charlatans in that it included Hughes and that band’s original piano player (and one the first Haight-Ashbury scenesters) Mike Ferguson, who also did the album’s cover artwork.

In 1970 Lynne Hughs released the now very scarce "Freeway Gypsy" Lp cited by at least one prominant top collector as being one of the great lost unknown Lp's of the sixties, putting it on the same level as "Pet Sounds" and "Forever Changes" - which may sound as quite a stretch, but fact is, the Lp is a remarkable folk/blues/rock mix that grows like fungus with repeat plays.
