Description
Hello and welcome to one of my auctions! I am a record collector for over 15 years now and I think it’s about time to sell a couple records to make some room and pass it on to another collector. This week’s auctions feature my 60’s beat and psych and some 70’s progressive records that are from my own personal collection, so here we go!
On offer, an extremely rare first German pressing of Scorpions – Virgin Killer on the ORANGE RCA label, cat. no. PPL 1-4225 with BANNED cover and lyrics insert.
The record is in EX+ condition, there are a few non-sounding hairlines only. The labels are in EX+ condition as well, there are a few faint spindle marks only.
The BANNED cover (with the naked young girl on the front) is in EX condition, there is a small crinkle in the lower left hand corner on the front, a small thumbnail near the opening edge and there is just very slight wear on the opening edge. In my opinion, this is nothing serious. Further this cover looks fantastic; no writing, no rips or tears or other unwanted damage. The lyrics insert is in EX+ condition, there is only one very, very tiny fold in one bottom corner that preventing me from giving it a Near to Mint grading.
This is an extremely rare 1st German pressing of The Scorpions’ Virgin Killer album with banned cover. When the album first came out, the picture of the ten year old nude girl on the front caused a lot of controversy back then and the cover had to be redesigned. For the later cover, the record company used the photo on the back for the front, which is, of course, far less controversial. You can read more about this album on: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virgin_Killer . And as far as I know, this cover was only used in Germany and France. So this is a unique chance to obtain this Scorpions album in a wonderful condition! Just how many are there left in this shape? Happy Bidding!
