Description
Bluesville 1047, "Mr. Scrapper's Blues" from 1962. Scrapper Blackwell, guitar and vocals. This is an original heavy deep-groove copy. Vinyl play-grades at NM with virtually no background sound and looks barely played. Jacket shows little seamwear other than slight rubwear along lower seam; corners are square and sharp; there is slight ringwear only along bottom front; jacket back is very clean with the usual "RW" stamp and a small price sticker at upper right; there is a long moisture mark along right edge which is easy to miss (see scan). Tracks are "Goin' Where the Monon Crosses the Yellow Dog", "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out", "'A' Blues", "Little Girl Blues", "George Street Blues", "Blues Before Sunrise", "Little Boy Blue", "''E' Blues", "Shady Lane", and "Penal Farm Blues". This is Scrapper's last session before his untimely death. Though 60 years old with an aging voice, his guitar has all the evocativeness from his younger years, and this is a real gem of an LP.
