Description

A holy grail alert! You will not find a better example. Almost an archival museum-piece. Near Mint condition.
1958 10" LP album release: 'Screamin' Jay Hawkins', (France) Fontana. 662.114 TR DELUXE (1958).
Once in a lifetime opportunity to get hold of this incredibly rare French 10" LP album release from 1958. A slightly thinned-down version of the USA 12" LP release: 'At Home With Screamin Jay Hawkins'.
Fragile, non-laminated, flipback sleeve grades EX+ to Near Mint. Save for a couple of small but neat biro marks alongside a couple of tracks (see reverse photo). No big creases. Just slight finger creasing in a couple of areas. No missing pieces. Very little sign of ring wear. Unusual to say the least. This one is very special!
Vinyl is exceptional. Near Mint - probably better. This may have only been played a couple of times at most. Labels are Near Mint too.
Includes the original wax paper inner protector sleeve, plus a white card vinyl protector sleeve and a PVC outer sleeve.
All the wildly frenetic and stupendous tracks that Screamin' Jay Hawkins is most known for are on here... 'I Put A Spell On You', 'Alligator Wine', There's Something Wrong With You', 'Hong Kong', 'Frenzy', etc...
(When 'Frenzy' was featured/played on an X-Files episode back in the mid/late-1990s, everyone was "Whaa, who the h**k - is this?" This alone, exposed his music to a whole new generation). We don't even need to mention all the other artists who have covered 'I Put A Spell On You', over the years.
Backed by a legion of fantastic session musicians, including Mickey Baker on Guitar! The tenor saxophone on this recording is killer!
Screamin' Jay Hawkins was a highly innovative performer, and hugely influential to many later rock stars... Screaming Lord Sutch, Alice Cooper, Crazy World of Arthur Brown, et al.
Note: The lilac labels vary in tone on the photos, this is just weird colour fluctuations on the camera of my Samsung phone.
Incredible opportunity. Don't miss out. This seldom turns up, anywhere. In this condition?
It will be packaged supremely well to avoid any damage.
