Screaming Trees' Wrong Turn At Jahannam: Live At Egg Studio 1991 lands again, this time on evergreen vinyl following an earlier opaque yellow edition. Here the Ellensburg band went off-script, catching them in free-flowing form, mid-rehearsal for their Uncle Anesthesia tour. Mark Lanegan leads with ragged charm, backed by a reunited lineup including Van Conner, freshly returned from a Dinosaur Jr stint, and Mudhoney's Dan Peters behind the kit. Rather than stick to new material, they burned through their full set, mixing SST-era favourites with songs from their major label debut. What could've been a throwaway session turned into a loose, ferocious document of a band at a turning point.
