 STILL SEALED ~ 1969 ORIGINAL 360 COLUMBIA

RARE 1969 first pressing original...always been hard to find even back 40 years ago ...well, here's a treat: STILL SEALED, never opened in 41 years...and even better, the unplayed collectible is one of the finest lesser known San Francisco Sound albums from the sixties....After giving this a few listens, it’s an easy choice to file it under unknown gems from the 60’s. The Electric Flag lead singer, Nick Gravenites, pulls off a rare feat by making an album that is likely better than anything by the Electric Flag. Of course having Mike Bloomfield and Mark Naftalin providing most of the chops was instrumental to its success. Five of the songs were recorded live and make up about 80% of the music. The closing “Wintry Country" Sstarts out peacefully with Naftalin warming up the keys and builds its way to several minutes of Bloomfield battling on lead guitar. Some of Michael Bloomfield's finest playing lies on this little known album. This is a half studio/half live (recorded at the Fillmore West) affair. Highlight is the Nick Gravenites orig. "You're Killing My Love" which was written/recorded  in 1969 for Otis Rush's album  "Mourning In The Morning".  This song demonstrates Bloomfields's  knack for perfect call and respone phrasing during his solos, and great use of sustain. If Bloomfield ever hoped to convey that he was the ballsiest kid on the block, as tough as Butterfield was in the black ghetto of Chicago's south side, then this track ranks with his best work. Bloomfield's searing solo is as contextually perfect within the songs rhythmic framework, as it is exhilarating. It cuts through the Fillmore ballroom with absolute authority.
