Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. Original 1970 first pressing of an obscure seldom seen Lp by American underground crew led by Randy Burns who by the time of this release had a recoring history...here's the overview: Randy Burns was a minor figure on the Greenwich Village '60s folk scene, and his albums are largely enjoyable examples of post-Dylan psychedelic folk; the first three Lp's have the added collector value of being on the legendary New York indie ESP-Disk.
Burns was born in Connecticut in 1948 and ran away from home at the age of 17. After the requisite period spent bumming around with a guitar on his back, the teenager ended up in New York City at the tail end of the folk boom of the early '60s, sleeping in Washington Square Park and busking for spare change. In early 1966, at the age of 18, he landed a regular gig as the permanent opening act at the legendary Gaslight Club on MacDougal Street in Greenwich Village. Shortly thereafter, Burns was approached by ESP-Disk founder and president Bernard Stollman, who invited the young folk singer to record for his label. Although Burns' style was far more "normal" than anyone else on the label (his cohorts included the Fugs and the Godz, plus the best of the city's free underground- music scene), The Village folk scene petered out during the summer of love, and like many of the New York folkies of the time, Burns became intrigued by the possibilities of psychedelic rock. Briefly returning home to New Haven, Burns hooked up with a local psych-pop band called the Morning. Thus inspired, he returned to Greenwich Village and formed the Sky Dog Band, which consisted of Burns on vocals and both electric and acoustic guitar, Mat Kastner on piano and organ, Bruce Samuels on bass and flute, and John O'Leary on trap kit and (more often) hand percussion. The new foursome gigged around town in the winter of 1967-1968 and entered the studio to record Burns' second ESP-Disk album, Evening of the Magician. Burns kept the Sky Dog Band for this listing, his third and final ESP-Disk release, 1970's Song for an Uncertain Lady. The psychedelia is somewhat toned down on this release, and a newfound tinge of an rural-outsider edge colors several tracks. This direction & feel suits Burns' voice and songs very well, and this album is nearly the equal of its predecessor. A New Haven, Connecticut, native, Randy Burns was only 18 years old in 1966 when, armed only with a guitar, he bought a ticket to New York City. He earned his stripes playing open mic nights at coffeehouses throughout the city, and landed a permanent opening slot at the Gaslight Cafe, where he shared the stage with, among others, John Hammond, Dave Van Ronk, Steve Gillette and Phil Ochs. Burns released a trio of post-Dylan folk records for the fabled ESP-Disk label in the late sixties, but as the Folk Revival was fading, he formed the electric folk rock group Randy Burns and the Skydog Band
