This Texas hippie trio, CHRISTOPHER released but one psychedelic/garage album that has been a top wish list item for years, and rightly so ...the self penned tracks are very infectious and deliciously played...for the underground sound, about as great as any music lover could hope for... with hints of Jefferson Airplane, the album combines fine fuzzy psychedelic guitar work on killer tracks like Dark Road, In Your Time, Disaster and The Wind, whilst Magic Cycles leans towards the progressive genre. Formed in 1968 in Houston, Texas and known as United Gas. When they landed a contract with Metromedia Records, a name change was suggested to avoid confusion with Pacific Gas and Electric, although the band continued to perform as United Gas.
During the recording of the album, the drummer Doug Tull was having severe problems with drugs. He attempted suicide, was fired, and the LP was completed using session musicians. Tull then formed the mighty Josefus; he would eventually commit suicide.
