Very rare and hard to find, especially never opened STILL SEALED first pressing from 1969 in thick gatefold cover and on the highly sought after and collected Harvest Records label....

"ANTHEMS IN EDEN" is considered a masterpiece in the field of delicate late sixties British folk rock,  performed by two legendary females, Shirley & Dolly Collins ... The album consists of musical arrangements that include early music instruments, such as viols, recorders, sackbuts and crumhorns.  Track one is a suite, "A song-story", lasting 28 minutes, 7 seconds and is the centrepiece of the album which relects a tremendous UK trad folk album with slight flashes of psych. On the Harvest label and really fits in with their roster of artists. Insane looking ancient instruments adourn the back cover and are utilized here as well, to stunningly marvelous effect. Gorgeous female vocals top the whole thing off, making this an absolute must for fans of Sandy Denny, Pentangle, Magic Carpet, etc. We don't want to suggest that this is as 'druggy' as the aforementioned artists, but it does indeed have a slightly stoned feel and is certainly as mind expanding as the trippy gatefold sleeve and album title suggest.

The album is built upon the untutored, but engaging and honest vocals of Shirely Collins and the pipe organ of her sisty Dolly plus a band of medieval instruments such as crumhorns, sackbuts, cornetts, and rackets. These instruments sound at once, both unique and other worldy - unlike anything else you'll ever hear. Some of the songs here are absolutely heartbreaking - in particular, during Side A's medley, "The Blacksmith", "Our Captain Cried" and "Lowlands Away" + "Ca' The Yowes" and "God Dog" are truly astonishing.
