Info: Nice original triple album box set which is the first publication of an important series of programmes on Irish traditional music which Sean O Riada presented on Radio Eireann in 1962. These programmes are considered by some to be one of the most important points in the modern revival of Irish traditional music, as at the time (as Thomas Kinsella wrote) “…the Irish musical tradition was of little or no concern (indeed, an object of contempt) to the urban majority of the Irish people.” Not only did he raise national awareness of the music but he was instrumental in bringing together a number of players to produce traditional music in a manner that had never existed before, the “Ceoltóiri Chualann”. Directly out of this sprang the Chieftains and eventually the whole modern idea of traditional groups.
The set of three LP's provide a selection of, edited and introduced by Tomas O Canainn, of the performances by sean-nos singers and traditional instrumentalists chosen to illustrate the character of the Irish musical tradition.
Comes in original card box with lift-off lid, and each of the records is housed in its own plane paper inner sleeve.
There was originally a booklet included but that is missing.

Vinyls are in superb condition and have hardly been touched!
Record one is in pristine MINT condition on side A, whilst side B is in excellent+ condition due to a small amount of light surface sleeve wear. No signs of it having been played.
Record two in MINT condition - looks like new and has probably never been played!
Record three is also MINT and has probably only been played just once.
Box in very good condition with a small amount of mild wear and splits in the two lid top corner edges. One split in the surface paper on the top edge of the tray bottom.
Inner sleeves in excellent++ condition with no splits.
