Title: SEHR GUT KOMMT SEHR GUT
Label: LASCH (003)
Released: 1980
Cover: VG+ (light cw/rw/bc)
Record: NM
Description: Excellent inside joke "compilation" of NDW bands; all tracks were performed by Xao Seffcheque. Amazing parodies of Der Plan, The Residents, Sternhagel, Wirtschaftswunder, Kraftwerk, etc. Read more about it on the WFMU blog post here. Cover & vinyl in beautiful condition!
By appearance, this is a compilation featuring tracks by some of the greatest german electronic/ndw bands from 1980 and around. There's a Mittagspause track, and songs by Der Plan, Deutsch-Amerikanische Freundschaft, Kraftwerk and others. But no, it's all one man's work, a man with - as it appears - tons of studio time. That man is Xao Seffcheque. And his "Sehr gut kommt sehr gut" is basically a critical parody of the german hits compilations of the time.
Seffcheque has mixed his own, very well performed, impersonations of more or less known bands with some made up artists and his own, real project Xao & Die Pest, who'se "Fortschrittsträume" here basically is some kind of funky new wave/ska interpretation of DAF's "Kebab-träume" (or it's predecessors, Mittagspause's and Fehlfarben's "Militürk", perhaps), with "Wir sind die Türken von morgen" (we are the turks of tomorrow) replaced by "Wir sind die hippies von morgen" (we are the hippies of tomorrow). And there are more musical references. Die Lemminge's "Why we Hate The Residents" is more or less a weird version of The Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby". And the same goes for fake band Not Mean Themselves' "Wrong Colours". "Eleanor Rigby" again.
When I got the album a few years ago, it took me a while to locate the fake Kraftwerk songs, "Stalagmit" 1-12. They are listed as being the last songs on each side, but there's just nothing there. But when listening through the album, I noticed notice some short beeps or sweeps between each song - lasting about a second or two each. Well, it turns out these short signals are the "Kraftwerk" contributions. Excellent." - DusseldorfHBF----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GRADING:
All records are play graded conservatively - I have never had a record returned due to bad grading (and I'd like to keep it that way). If you are unhappy with the condition of a record I've sold you, please get in touch before leaving negative feedback!
NEAR MINT (NM): Like new.
EXCELLENT (EX): Otherwise NM but has slight cosmetic flaws that don't affect play. Close to perfect, with minor signs of wear or age just becoming evident. The cover might have light wear or a dented corner, but should look close to new.
VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+): The record has been handled and played infrequently or very carefully - there may be light marks that don't affect play, or some of the original luster may be lost. The cover will have light wear, but will still look & feel solid.
VERY GOOD (VG): Record displays visible signs of handling and playing, such as loss of vinyl luster, light surface scratches, groove wear and spindle trails. Some audible surface noise. Cover may have moderate to heavy ring wear, seam splits, bent corners, loss of gloss, stains. A VG grade doesn't mean the album is trashed; it will still play well enough to be enjoyable.
VERY GOOD MINUS (VG-): The record may have numerous scratches including heavy scratches that will tick, moderate to heavy surface noise. The cover might have large seam splits, tears, or writing on the cover that obscures the artwork. I usually don't list records in this condition unless it is an extremely rare title.
