Shigeo Sekito's influential Special Sound Series Vol. 2, finally reissued on sky blue vinyl, celebrates the visionary Electone pioneer's unparalleled talent and global impact. Originally released in 1975, this seminal work showcases Sekito's talent of the Electone, blending fresh rhythms and whimsical melodies that have impressed audiences across genres - from hip-hop to dream pop. 'The Word II', a standout track famously covered by Mac DeMarco on 'Chamber of Reflection,' catapulted Sekito's music to international recognition, inspiring artists like Travis Scott and Quavo's Huncho Jack. Sekito, known also for his piano workds under the name Ken Akishino, pushed the boundaries of sound manipulation and tone color, creating compositions described as both meticulous and daringly innovative. His legacy, bolstered by this meticulously remastered reissue and accompanied by comprehensive liner notes from Chee Shimizu, continues to shape the future of Electone music, resonating deeply with enthusiasts worldwide.
