THE SELLING OF THE PRESIDENT

RARE Original 1972 Broadway Preview One Sided LP with Variations

In 1972, the book, The Selling of the President, was adapted into a short-lived Broadway musical which ran for only 5 performances.

This recording contains a studio cast performing selections probably prior to when "The Selling of the President " went into rehearsal. This is a DEMO LP of 3 of the show's songs that was sent to pop singers of that era, to interest them in recording a song or songs from the show on their upcoming albums. These were  often sung by non theatrical demo singers. Another album I had, had Peter Allen singing the demo songs, so these singers sometimes did go on to fame. It may be possible that some of the other cast members recorded the songs, although there are no credits listed to be certain. Clearly they are most professional and of excellent quality, however. I really like the voices of the singers, they are very talented, whoever they were.  This obscure show record came from an elderly gentleman who passed away and was deeply involved in theater productions all his life.
