THE SENSATIONAL ALEX HARVEY BAND: This Is The Sensational Alex Harvey Band (´72* / very rare orig. German LP / METRONOME-"2001" 200 173 / red label / stereo / non-gatefold sleeve with lamination on both sides / this is the 2nd version of the sought-after "The Joker Is Wild" LP from 1972 on the Metronome label / "The Joker Is Wild" was an LP, that was only released in Germany, and allegedly Alex Harvey himself wasn´t amazed at all about this release, there were some legal disputes and it did remain unclear, if Metronome were the owners of the (copy-) right, in other words: if they had paid for the legal rights to release this LP or not... / as a consequence the first issue of "The Joker Is Wild" was withdrawn after some disputes; but surprisingly Metronome didn´t give up here and tried once again to put the LP onto the market: the title was changed, the sleeve design was also changed and to Alex` complete annoyance the credits were also changed, as now it was "The Sensational Alex Harvey Band", who were listed as performers, while on the previous issue as "The Joker Is Wild" it had just been "Alex Harvey" (only naturally Alex did feel, that Metronome was trying to cash in on the emerging success of The Sensational Alex Harvey Band) ...but the tracks, and even the listing order of the tracks, on "This Is The Sensational Alex Harvey Band" are completely identical to those on "The Joker Is Wild"! / another thing, that may have been considered as a "clever move" by Metronome´s executives to avoid further legal hassles, was the decision not to release this 2nd edition on the Metronome label, but to opt for a release on Metronome´s sub-label, "2001" - obviously that didn´t help either, and according to almost all sources I´ve found this 2nd issue was also withdrawn (albeit presumably a few more copies had been sold before the withdrawal than first time ´round) / so, even though this 2nd edition isn´t quite as rare as "The Joker Is Wild", it´s still a very rare item and amongst the most collectable of all SAHB items! / *one thing I haven´t been able to acknowledge while doing a research in the internet, is the exact release year: some sources state, that "This Is..." was released immediately after the withdrawal of "The Joker Is Wild", others say, that it was issued later on, sometime between 1973 and 1975 - maybe there´s someone out there, who really knows the facts and would be so kind to let me know?...)

DESCRIPTION:

the sleeve is in superb condition with just one minor mistake, that should be mentioned: the lamination is a little bit "blown up" in the region of the spine (on the backside this is a bit more evident, on the frontside there´s almost no problem) / otherwise the sleeve is in near-perfect condition without ringwear / the vinyl has just a few light hairlines, there are absolutely no scratches! / the labels are clean
