SERGIO MENDES Quiet Nights LP 1968 VG/VG Rare PHILIPS A very rare album. Includes the original AVCO inner sleeve making it an even rarer copy. There is not much information about this Philips release, apart from the release date (January 1968) according to the Billboard and Cash Box Magazines.
The original recording date was likely between 1963 and 1965. No information on any of the musicians appears on the release apart from Sérgio Mendes on Piano The other musicians are probably Dave Pike (or Eddie Higgins) on vibraphone, Chico Batera (or Edison Machado) on drums, Sebastião Neto on bass and Rosinha de Valença or Oscar Castro Neves on guitar. Some sources state that, for this session, Sérgio Mendes was brought in to record some background music for the Seeburg Company and was very upset when Philips later released it as an album (which might explain why it was never reissued). Vinyl has scuffs & signs of play. Solid VG player. Cover is clean with even shelf wear and bottom seam split VG Inner sleeve is aged but crisp VG+
