Shelagh McDonald was a renowned Scottish folk singer, songwriter and guitarist who mysteriously vanished in 1971 after making just two widely acclaimed albums. This is an extremely rare test pressing of her first LP with each side of the album on two separate one-sided discs.
Released in 1970 this LP sold very few copies and, consequently, is now very rare and highly sought after. Original copies very rarely appear on Ebay. However, this is a much rarer test pressing of the album and to the best of my knowledge has never been up for sale.
This a great folk album with Shelagh supported by all the members of “the Mighty Bay” (except Martin Stone),Keith Christmas, Andy Roberts and Andy Tippett.
Each disc has a white label with STEREO stamped across the middle along with a notation in biro detailing the side of the LP. The labels on both alternate sides are completely blank.
Both records are in excellent condition with only a superficial hairline mark on the first (side one) disc. Both of the records play and sound great !
Each record is housed within its original white polylined inner sleeve and the date of 14 SEP 1970 is stamped in the top left hand corner of each along with the matrix number for each disc written in biro. Both sleeves show wear, especially the one for the second record where the polyliner has come unstuck. These inner sleeves are quite common and I could have easily replaced them but because of the date stamp and the notation I think it is important that these original sleeves are kept with the records.
The outer sleeve is a proof cover that folds open (see photo) and is slightly larger than the usual issue. There is wear to the edges of the sleeve with creases and bumps to the corners.
This is a seriously rare item !!!
