SHIRLEY & DOLLY COLLINS LOVE, DEATH & THE LADY. LAMINATED GATEFOLD COVER. 1st PRESSING NO EMI LOGO ON LABELS. MATRIX SHVL 771 A-1/B-1. VINYL & COVER VG+
My listening equipment is a highly revealing Yamaha PF-800 turntable (top quality suspended sub-chassis deck), pre/power amps and B&W Matrix Reference speakers. Before listing I always clean LPs on a vacuum record cleaning machine and I always determine audio quality by playing the LP not just by visual inspection. For this LP I have used an Ortofon MC10 Super MC cartridge.
Played on my system, this LP grades VG+. On side one there is some very minor background noise to occasional quiet parts and the odd soft tick to track one; on track five there is one isolated click. Side two has some very minor background noise to occasional quiet parts with a few soft ticks to the first track and the rest of the side has just a few random clicks of no audio consequence. The gatefold cover is VG+ with just some small thumbnail creases to the laminate (see photos). This LP was purchased in the 70s from Birmingham Public Library (it was hardly ever borrowed which is why it is in such good condition) and consequently has some discreet library stamps to the labels (see photos) and one to the inside cover (see close-up photo). There is also a very small pen mark to the inside cover (see final close-up photo). And finally, for full disclosure, it came to me in a plain white inner sleeve which I have replaced with a Harvest-branded inner sleeve. Will be well packaged for safe transit.
