This is one of the best blues albums you're likely to hear for a long time. The FLEETWOOD MAC musicians blend well together and no single musician overpowers any of the others with exception of the mix that could have highlighted Otis Spann's keyboards more than it does. Editors note: that's a *plus* in our book => Peter Green's guitar, while soulful and fantastic as usual, drowns out the keyboards.
It is amazing that they put down these tracks in only one day without any overdubbing with fully understanding the characteristics of a great musician is the ability to improvise and step in without a lot of rehearsel time. That being said, this album sounds like they rehearsed together for at least days, maybe weeks. The sound is that tight.
At any rate, to cut it short and definite: if you enjoy Fleetwood Mac's '60s 'blues-boom' stuff, The Biggest Thing Since Colossus should satisfy your appetite for the great blues this band were known for!
