Welcome to Heart of Wax - Vinyl online record shop. I shall endeavour to post up as many exciting records up here that I find. Usually all from private collections which I've sourced. SHUGGIE OTIS - INSPIRATION/INFORMATION 

We all know Shuggie from 'Strawberry Letter #23' but don't just discount him as a one off hitmaker. This album is so off the chain it's unreal. The intricacies of this record are glorious. We've just had a monster week of gorgeous weather and I had this on full blast the other day - it's so uplifting it's genius. Coming from a rock background (he played guitar on Frank Zappa's Hot Rats when he was just 16). His Dad built him a studio to record Inspiration/Information. It's built on jazz, California-funk, new age psychedelia. It flows perfectly, so lucid. It's not as heavy as George Clinton's stuff but also not as floaty as Marvin Gaye's 'What's Going On'....it sits in a realm quite unsurpassed by anything else going off in the early 70's. An absolute winner. Trust.

LP - VG - played through with no defects just an unbelievable R&B sound.

Clean orange labels.
