Description
A NM- copy of the only vinyl document of this great San Francisco outsider avant improv collective, led by semi-legendary Bay Area multi-instrumentalist/composer/instrument builder Darrell DeVore, probably best known to psych record collectors as the Charlatans' piano player and co-songwriter. This also features Charlatans drummer Terry Wilson and saxophonist Jim Pepper (Free Spirits, Everything Is Everything, Pepper's Pow Wow, etc).
Pygmy Unit "Signals From Earth"recorded in San Francisco in 1974. It sounds crazy, I guess it would be called Free jazz but its kind of psychedelic as well. A 6 paged booklet is included that describes the intergalactic intentions of the group.Lots of moogs saxes bass, bassoon, flute and tons of crazy drumming and vocals. In the same neck of the woods as Sun Ra but maybe the next nebula over. An interesting ensemble of players including Jim Pepper- tenor sax, John Celona- soprano sax, moog, percussion, Darrell De Vore- vocals, flutes, bass, piano, percussion, Ron Grunn- bassoon, flute, Frank Albright- flute, soprano sax, Marvin Kirkland- flute, percussion, and Terry Wilson- percussion. The cover is VG+ shape and the Vinyl is VG++ or NM- . looks great plays beautiful.
