Description

Vintage copy of Time Changes - The Dave Brubeck Quartet  - SIGNED BY ALL 4 BAND MEMBERS! 12" vinyl LP 1964 Mexican pressing
--> This item is from the estate of Ira Gitler, influential jazz critic and historian, whose writing appeared regularly in magazines like DownBeat and JazzTimes. He wrote several books on the subject including multiple editions of The Encyclopedia of Jazz. Ira Gitler was also one of the most prodigious writers of liner notes, annotating more than 700 albums. In 2017 he was named a Jazz Master by the National Endowment for the Arts.
This LP was incribed to Ira Gitler's wife Mary Jo in the 1960s by all band members of the Dave Brubeck Quartet:
Dave Brubeck Paul Desmond Joe Morello Eugene Wright (See photos of each signed autograph with inscription.)
Catalog number CL 5048 This is a rare Mexican edition of the record, from the the original release year of 1964. The matrix numbers are 0210-2345-1H and 0210-2346-1H
But of course most notable as rare example of a 1960s Dave Brubeck Quartet album with signatures of all four band members--Brubeck dissolved this group in 1967 and Paul Desmond passed in 1977. This is the same group that made the landmark album Time Out in 1959. (Both records were produced by Teo Macero.)
There is heavy wear to from playing to the record, and the cover is slightly yellowed and the the spine is worn, with a small crack at the top of the spine (see photos). The record has only been in the possession of the Gitler family since it was signed in the 1960s.
Comes from a smoke-free, pet-free environment.
