Description
SIMON BROUGHTON crime and punishment UK LP private press
Very rare private pressing, listed here in the 'folk' section, due to it being a privately pressed record and may appeal to collectors in this area. It's homemade pasted on sleeve with it's rippling and general wear will probably make this an interesting item.
Essentially this is a musical, music and lyrics by Simon Broughton, first performed February 1980 in Durham. Director Mark Ayres (possibly the person who got this pressed as the Matrix scratch is AYRES1 and the white label and sleeve don't carry any other catalogue numbers or markings).
Some nice solo parts, some femvox for the collectors out there, but very much a moody and somewhat serious musical affair.
Nothing else is known about this record, no others appear to have turned up on the collectors market, may be one of just a handful made for those involved.
Performers include : Ben Thompson, James Wilby, Peter Berguis, Melanie Eades, Clare Wilkinson, Liz Hartford, Liz Ekberg, Nick Bond, Chris Catlow, Lesly Day, Pandora Howles, Toni Simpson, Andy Bishop, Charles Colville, Jackie Fry, Charles Johnston, Sara Smaile-Adams, Alison Bremner, Caroline Cook, Jackie Hargrave, William Lawrie, Gillian Starky, Julie Burrett, Robin Crees, Paul Hewitt, Nick Obolensky, Chris Upton, Trudi Brunskill, Rebecca Davies, Thomas Peacock and Emma Shankland
Musicians : Simon Broughton, Kevin Lygo, Sarah McCartney, Pippa Johnson, Richard Lewis, Alistair Creamer, Dave Morris, Chrispin Morton, Richard Cooper.
