WebVinyl.Com Presents!
Slim Gaillard and his Orchestra
"Dizzy Boogie / Flat Foot Floogee" Majestic Records Jazz 78 with Charlie Parker & Dizzy Gillespie! No Reserve!
Slim Gaillard and his Orchestra - "Dizzy Boogie / Flat Foot Floogee" Majestic Records 9002 from 1945. Hard to find 10" 78 RPM version of these great Jazz / Jump Blues sides on the Majestic label. Along with Gaillard, the band includes Charlie "Yardbird" Parker, John Birks aka J.B. aka Dizzy Gillespie, Dodo Marmarosa, Zutty Singleton, Jack "Mack" McVea and Tiny aka Bam Brown.
A note on the grading of 78s! I'm listing up a bunch of pretty rare Rock / R&B / Doo Wop / Blues / Country / Jazz 78s and want to be sure everyone is clear on my grading. While I am well versed in the grading of normal LPs and such, 78s tend to be graded a little differently. While I realize that a Near Mint is still a Near Mint no matter what the format none of the 78s that I am listing fall into that category. Basically, they are all what I would call "old used records". They have all been well played and show scuffs and light scratches, marks from stacking and spindle trails on the labels. Rather than go through and try to detail every nick and scuff and try to assign a grade, I am going to call them all VG and point out any flaws beyond these basics that I have mentioned i.e. deep scratches, nicks in the rim, etc.. A lot of these may actually be visually closer to a G+ or something than VG but I have played them all and, except where noted, they all play like I would think a VG 78 should. In other words, there is going to be some groove noise and occasional light tick but nothing that distracts. Put it this way, I've heard a lot worse being played on the local NPR radio shows and on compilation albums so I think you should be satisfied as they are all good players.
This 78 shows a little bit more in the way of surface scuffs than average but plays just great, no problems. There is a little catalog number sticker on the label of the B Side.
Song List
- 1. Dizzy Boogie
- 2. Flat Foot Floogee
Records are graded to the best of my ability to Goldmine Visual standards. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words:
Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK.
Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.
I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over eleven years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less! If you are not satisfied that a purchase meets my description, I will do what I can to make it right if you give me the chance and work with me! Please feel free to check my feedback.

Please read and understand: EBay / PayPal now requires door to door tracking and Insurance on all shipments! I strongly encourage customers to choose this option for both of our protection.
