Description

What It Is: This is a numbered copy (#11075) of the Smashing Pumpkins' third album, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. There's no disputing that the numbered editions were the first pressings, but there is a little controversy about how many numbered copies were pressed -- "The 3LP version of MCIS was originally solicited in February of 1996 as a limited-to-5000, numbered edition. When it was finally released in April, it was allegedly limited to 15,000. Since that time, numbers above 18,000 have been confirmed, leaving open the question of how many copies were actually pressed."

Regardless, the album was enormously successful, as the Wikipedia says, "The album spawned four more singles over the course of 1996 and has been certified nine times platinum. Praised by critics for its ambition and scope, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness earned the band seven Grammy Award nominations in 1997. The album was voted the 29th greatest album of all time in 1998 by Q magazine readers. In 2003, the album was ranked number 487 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time."

I purchased this copy when it came out and only played it once, on a high-end turntable. It was stored in a mylar sleeve that has protected the cover (no wear), and in a dry, closed box (no discoloration). There are no spindle marks and is essentially exactly as I received it 12 years ago. The booklet is crisp and uncreased.

Grading:

All items are visually graded, and if they've been play graded that will be noted. I follow Goldmine grading standards. My grading is conservative, at least as good as I would expect from anyone that I would buy from.

Payment:

I accept PayPal, money orders, or personal checks. Personal checks must clear before I ship. If you must return the item, it must be in the same condition that I sent it, but I will refund your full purchase price and return shipping cost within the USA (outside of the USA, I'll refund the bid price, but you must pay for return shipping unless I've made a serious error, in which case I'll pay shipping too) -- I guarantee your satisfaction.

Shipping and Insurance:

Within the USA: I ship via USPS Priority mail (please let me know if you require something else). The shipping cost for this item (within the continental US) will be $9 for priority mail, or $3 for media mail. As always, if your winning bid is above $50, I will pay for insurance.

For unsealed records, I ship the LPs outside of the jacket (to prevent jacket seam splits) and provide outer mylar sleeves to protect the jacket and LPs.

Outside of the USA: I'm willing to ship outside of the USA, but given the logistics, the terms are a little different than USA sales. Shipping cost will be determined based on the winner's address and size and weight of the package. I usually insist on airmail for reasonable delivery time and better handling. I'll try to state the shipping size and weight in the ad so that you'll have an idea of cost, though final determination of shipping cost will occur then the auction completes. Unfortunately I can't offer free insurance as it often gets quite expensive for overseas shipment, however, I strongly advise that you select insurance as I cannot be responsible for delivery in another country.

Thanks for bidding!
