It's been more the 20 years since the era-defining Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness album of Smashing Pumpkins fame, and although some will argue albums of recent years may not have been quite as wrapped up in the 'zeitgeist' of their previous works, it's with a touch of 'melancholy' we say that Shiny & Oh So Bright Vol 1: No Past No Future No Sun harks back to that feeling of the 1990s past that made the band so defining. Produced in accordance with Rick Rubin - helping cast the sound of Beastie Boys, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers to System Of A Down, Slayer and countless others - this album hits that sweet spot again with the band's founding members Billy Corgan, James Iha, Jimmy Chamberlin and longtime guitarist Jeff Schroeder. Yep, it's "1979" all over again.
