Extra Background Info:  REBOSAK is a scarce San Francisco label from the early '70s produced by Max Weiss. Weiss is an interesting figure in Bay area California music history. With his brother Sol he operated a record pressing operation from the late 1940s, initially focused on jazz releases but gradually embracing modern pop, rock and roll and what have you. He is perhaps best remembered as the man behind Fantasy Records and subsidiary labels Scorpio and Galaxy. Max was part of the original Frisco beat poet scene, part owner of jazz club The Blackhawk and familiar face around the City Lights bookstore, a friend of Lenny Bruce, Allen Ginsberg and Vince Guaraldi. He was the manager of a pop group The Golliwogs and sold his interest in Fantasy records just about the time they evolved into the legendary Creedence Clearwater Revival. Fantasy Records had a reputation for its open-door policy, friends of friends and employees often dropping by the studio to rehearse and cut demo tapes. This record, and likely most or all of the late Weiss REBOSAK material, was recorded at Treat Street Studios, the former Fantasy Studios, after Fantasy had relocated to Oakland. A scarce bit of California record history is represented here. Sparse, straight-forward folk tunes with female vocal. Some interesting electric guitar in places, unfortunately very buried in the mix. Joni Mitchell and similar influence.

GRADING SCALE:

NM / VG++ / VG+ / VG / VG- / G

NM........Like new

VG++........A few small paper scuffs only, probably played a few times, under regular light will look like new.

VG+........Will likely have a good amount of light scuffs or marks, and maybe some very light scratches. Will likely have a few brief moments of surface noise, maybe some light pops or ticks every so often. Not a perfect record, but still in very good shape.

VG........Record will have many marks, mostly light, but expect some scratches and under regular light will show obvious signs of wear. Record will play with some surface noise, ticks, pops, etc. but should not overwhelm the music. Buy this record expecting it to not look great, but should play satisfactory and will still be enjoyable to listen to for casual listening/DJing.

VG-........Record will have scratches, tons of marks, scuffing, and obvious signs of wear. Sometimes they will play much better than they look, but expect surface noise, ticks, pops, etc. Generally a record that will be something you may want to upgrade in the future, if you are serious about condition, but usually a decent copy for casual listening or DJing.

G........The lowest grade. Looks really bad. Scuffs, scratches, marks, groove wear. Often times these records will have a skip, or multiple skips. I will generally play grade this record and list how it plays, though some additional skips or jumps might be found. Not reccomended for DJing, but sometimes can play miraculously great.

THANKS FOR LOOKING!
