Description
Here's the "Dixie Jazz Band," in this case ADRIAN SCHUBERT AND HIS ORCHESTRA, doing two numbers from the new (1929) Warner Bros. Vitaphone movie, "Honky Tonk," starring Sophie Tucker.
They do the plaintive ballad, "I'M DOIN' WHAT I'M DOIN' FOR LOVE," and the hot "SOME OF THESE DAYS."
The remarkable fact is this cheap-shellac, dime-store record has survived ninety years in nearly mint condition! I simply cannot account for it. They were considered ephemera, not worth preserving. People bought these on Friday, wore them out over the week-end, and trashed them on Monday.
This original 1929 Oriole 1612 is in scarcely believable EE+ condition. A tiny bit of moisture damage on the edges.

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
