The KINKS were, like The WHO, a leading Mod band, making RnB and Garage pop rock into a vital British form!
They stayed on the Pye lable for the 1960s, where their pop took on a somewhat more sophisticated psych style as the decade went on - the Swinging 60s were an astonishing period for imaginative music and fashion!
Ray Davies with his brother Dave essentially laid the way with tough mod sounds, lyrically direct cockney stories and creative rhythms to carry it all. Indeed Pete Townshend was specific in wanting their style, and followed in their footsteps from The Who's first records!
....and what a fantastic lp this one is, from 1967.
A quality fulfilling album of excellent tunes, and great to get into. Everyone must be familiar with Waterloo Sunset, one of the era's finest songs, but the rest of the album grows on you, it's surely one of 1960s standout records.
This is an excellent player too!
CONDITION;
The VINYL grades VG+ to EXCELLENT, and sounds great!
One scuff line on side 1, not affecting play.
PYE raspberry red Labels are EXCELLENT, several spindle marks but little sign of wear - no pen or stickers.
The sensitive silver Single Card Cover grades VERY GOOD PLUS, no stickers or pen, a little general wear and a bottom corner bend and 2cm split - overall a quite respectable example.
