mega-rare 1967 UK PYE MONO LP NPL 18193
This record has fast become one of the most sought after UK 60s records, and rarely appears for sale. The holy grail not only for KINKS fans, but anyone who loves sixties music, or indeed rock music in general. For some bizarre reason, Pye got into the habit of repackaging all of their major stars on the economy Marble Arch label, perpetuating an out of date version of all these artists. As a consequence, young record buyers in 1967 had the choice of either paying a large amount for "Something Else" on PYE, or a few bob for classic earlier KINKS hits on Marble Arch. I know from personal experience that PYE originals are thin on the ground out there, whereas Marble Arch records are 10 a penny! You certainly will wait a long, long time to find another with vinyl in this kind of condition. This one is really quite outstanding.
VINYL IN STRONG EXCELLENT+ CONDITION
SLEEVE IN VERY GOOD+++ CONDITION
The first pressing PYE labels are stunning, with, as you can see below, no damage or writing and very, very light spindle wear only, way, way below average. I hope the photos do justice to how little this item has been played. The heavyweight vinyl itself is quite pristine and beautifully shiny with mega-light sign of wear. Absolutely no significant marks, no scratches, with, as you can expect, no annoying surface noise or audible defects as a result, playing perfectly throughout. Truly, truly outstanding. Played maybe 10 times in 38 years! The sleeve is also in very respectable condition. It usually turns up heavily creased or torn and with severe edgewear. For some strange reason (as far as 1967 was concerned), Pye released this with an uncharacteristic unlaminated sleeve, and, as a result, few exist now in better condition than this sleeve. It does display light edgewear, most notably to the lower edge, but is far, far better than most copies you will find. Absolutely no serious damage at all. No edge splits, tears or creases, and the surface retains most of its silver tint. Very hard indeed to find in this condition. A real treat!
Do not underestimate the rarity of this item in this condition!
