SON SONG Today's A Start (Nebula Circle) 1979 Private NW Christian Soft Rock Pop Psych LP. Here is a review from "The Archivist" :
From George Fox College in Newburg, Oregon comes this adorable home-made collection of fragile melancholy songs that seem to cry out with feeling. Musically Son Song is in soft rock territory with gentle electric guitar backing, often richly enhanced by Arp synthesizer, plus a few heavier surprises. Mostly soft sensitive male lead vocals, with some attractive female vocals spotlighted here and there. Side one consists mainly of love songs, from the pop-edged opener ‘Holiday’ to the upbeat country—twangin’ ‘Puppy Love’ to slow delicate ballads like the title track, ‘Wall?ower’, ‘You Are’ and ‘Somehow’, the latter with fuzz guitar solo and unusual wah-wah trumpet. Spiritual themes are introduced on side two. The group once again excels on beautiful aching ballads like ‘One Step At A Time’, ‘Rejection Of Freedom’, ‘Teach Me To Love’ and ‘One Day’ (nice electric leads on some of these). Closes with ‘Glory Of The Lord’, a powerful song with climactic fuzz guitar and psych organ. All but one of the twelve songs were written by member Glenn Hughes. Handsome b&w cover artwork. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
