Description

Up for your consideration here is "Cool Struttin'" by Sonny Clark on the Blue Note label, catalog # BLP 1588 . The LP (with New York, USA labels and RVG stamped in the dead wax) is VG with a fair number of light scratches on side 1...though side 2 is VG+. Because of the appearance of side one, I played the whole side. It plays loud, bright and clear with only some occasional light background tics that are noticeable during the quiet parts..... still a very enjoyable listen...and frankly I think it plays better than some VG+ records I have listened to through the years. I guess that is why people pay a premium for these early mono pressings. The cover is in rough shape. I won't attempt to give it a grade. A 2 inch seam split at top right.... a one inch seam split at bottom right. Scratching and/or chewing along the spine. Also moderate ringwear and rubwear. Still, it's holding together. I really think with how well the LP plays, this one is best suited to someone with a nice cover and a beat record. To me, the record alone (and the way it plays) should be worth a couple hundred....even with this wrecked cover.
